How to Prevent Carbon Monoxide Exposure
If you burn coal, oil, propane, or natural gas there is a risk that you or your family could get carbon monoxide poisoning. Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless gas that can result in death if poisoned. Protect your family from carbon monoxide poisoning by following the steps below.
1. Have your heating systems, water heaters, and other fossil fuel–burning appliances serviced each year by a qualified technician.

2. Have Zimmerman install carbon monoxide detectors, and
check or replace batteries when changing the clocks each spring and fall.
3. If detector sounds, leave your home immediately and call 911.
4. Seek medical attention promptly if carbon monoxide poisoning is suspected and if feeling dizzy, light-headed, or nauseous.
