As part of the Bipartisan Tax Bill of 2018, equipment installed in 2017 may qualify for a tax credit.
This is up to a $300 credit on air conditioning systems that meet 16 SEER and 13 EER while heat pump systems require 15 SEER, 12.5 EER, and 8.5 HSPF to qualify. Along with these systems, an additional $150 on energy star rated gas, oil and propane furnaces and $50 if they utilize a high efficient main air circulating fan. Please remember, if you have used any of the energy tax credit in years past it is only used once and does not renew every year. This credit also includes items such as insulation, doors, and windows that may have been added to your home since 2010.
Talk to your accountant about the possibility of having this credit applied to your taxes for 2017. We have all necessary files on equipment installed in 2017 if any of it is in question.
