Equipment to Keep the Air Clean
Our indoor air quality services include the installation of devices that passively or actively filter contaminants out of the indoor air you’re breathing. Most basic, 1″ furnace filters are designed primarily as a component used to protect your HVAC system, not your health. A large, whole-home media filter has the capability of capturing much smaller particulates like viruses, bacteria and cleaning products.
Air purifiers are a related but different type of equipment capable of eradicating contaminants, and can also improve the smell of your home. These devices are installed in ductwork, where they can operate sight-unseen, and some use UV lights to neutralize everything from harmful molds, smoke, and gasses to off-putting odors.
Surprisingly, even simply adjusting the humidity in your home will go a long way to creating a healthier, more comfortable living environment. High rates of moisture lead to fungal growth, which aggravates breathing problems and causes property damage. Whole-home dehumidifiers are especially helpful in homes with basements, as it prevents the growth of mold while keeping your home much more comfortable in the summer.
In the winter, a whole-home humidifier can also be a worthwhile investment, as they help to prevent the irritation to skin, hair, eyes and lungs that the cold, dry air often introduces. Today’s HVAC systems may offer humidity control features, though separate equipment is often necessary to achieve the desired results.
